Facts and history of the texts of the pyramids, one of the most important religious texts of the ancient Egyptians, and what it contains of the secrets of the life of the pharaohs and more about Ancient Egypt History.

Pyramid Texts

The Pyramid Texts are a collection of the most important ancient Egyptian pharaonic religious texts as in Ancient Egyptian religion that were originally from the era of the Old Kingdom in Pharaonic Egypt, the beginning of the rule of the Third Dynasty of Egypt and the period of King Djoser.

They are religious texts and spells as in Magic in ancient Egypt written on the walls of the inner rooms in the Great Pyramid of Giza in Cairo. They were used from the Fifth Dynasty of Egypt until the Sixth Dynasty of Egypt in the era of the Old Kingdom in Pharaonic Egypt.

The texts of the Pyramid Texts were intended only for the Egyptian Pharaohs kings and the ruling family of Egyptian Pharaonic queens, princesses “Female Pharaohs“, and princes and Nobles in Ancient Egyptian Government.

The purpose of them was spells that would help and guide the king in his journey in the other world, “Aaru,” and help him communicate with Egyptian deities until he ascended to the sun, the God Ra.

These religious texts symbolize the idea of the eternal hill in the religious beliefs of ancient Egypt and a symbol of a staircase for the God Ra, “the symbol of the sun,” to ascend to the top.

It was discovered that the construction of the pyramids symbolized the rays of the sun falling on the earth in parallel, as there is a symbol of the Phoenix bird called Ben BenBenben, Pyramidion, pyramidia”, which is in the form of a pointed stone found in a prominent inscription on the main temple of the city of On in the ancient Egyptian civilization, “Heliopolis,” which means the city of the sun and was the center. To worship the god Ra during the Old Kingdom period, currently known as the El Matareya area or Ain Shams.

What is the writing on pyramids called?

These are texts dedicated to the kings with which they decorated the interior walls of their pyramids as Egyptian Tombs. The texts of the pyramids contained ancient perceptions that we could call (stellar texts), explaining how the king after death turned into a North Star.

The solar texts are those of the late Pharaonic Tombs that explain  the daily journey of the king with the sun god (Ra) in the sky.

The pyramids are only fragments of funerary rituals as in Ancient Egyptian Literature, engraved in the lower chambers of the The Pyramid of Unas in Saqqara, which was built during the era of king Unas and then by the pyramids of the kings of the Sixth Dynasty.

The great committees are specifically ritualistic, and these texts have nothing to do with literature except by far.

The texts of the pyramids have a degree of beauty and power, so their influence still takes on the spirits. A lyrical trend in which some of the greed was sometimes inspired by a healthy system hunter, and has since revealed the similarity and balance that are common in poetry throughout  the ancient  Near East.

What do the pyramid texts say?

  • Pyramid Texts, or as they are also called the Pyramid Texts, are an important and rich collection of the various pharaonic religious texts that are ancient Egyptians in the era of the Old Kingdom.
  • It is also one of the oldest such religious texts that were known before in the whole world.
  • The texts of those pyramids in the Old Kingdom were carved in the Ancient Egyptian Language on the walls of the pyramids to know more about Sculpture in Ancient Egypt, which are being built by a group of  Ancient Egyptian Metallurgy as stone Ancient Egyptian Coffins that were found in the pyramids of Saqqara as Pyramid of Djoser and Bent Pyramid during the periods of rule of each of the Fifth and Sixth Dynasties.
  • the date of the oldest of these Pyramid Texts in the pyramids dates back to approximately 2400-2300 BC.
  • Contrary to what is customary in the texts of coffins and in what was mentioned in The Book of the Dead, the texts of the pyramids were used only to be something distinguished for the pharaohs only from other people as in Social Structure in Ancient Egypt.
  • after the Palermo Stone, the texts of the Pyramid of Khafre Built by King Khafre, were considered the second oldest of those texts in which the God Osiris was mentioned, who had become in that period the most important deity of the afterlife in all the ancient Egyptian religion.
  • The goal they seek in writing these pyramid texts is their success in protecting the body of the pharaoh “Mummy” after finish Mummification in ancient Egypt, and then reviving his body again after he realizes it, and he has to help him simply and easily to reach heaven quickly and verifiably in his afterlife.
  • It was also believed that it was also used in the afterlife to ask for help from the gods.

What is the Book of Egyptian funerary text?

The World of Heaven (funerary theology of the Star, the Sun and Osiris):

It seems that the oldest integrated funerary theology appeared in Egypt, was a starry theology, and there remained nuggets scattered in the texts of the pyramids, the oldest Egyptian funerary Pyramid Texts;

This explains why the Modernists built the Egyptian Temples as Mortuary Temples of their first pyramids on the north side of it, as seen in the pyramids of the third listed dynasty as in Pyramid of King Djoser, and this idea located the entrances to the pyramids on the north side throughout the period of the Old Kingdom as in Buried Pyramid, Red Pyramid, Layer Pyramid, The Black Pyramid.

As for the late Pyramid Texts, they speak of the king’s company with the sun god Ra during his daily journey into the sky, and so a new belief came with the doctrine of the sun that became official with the Fifth Dynasty to know more about Astronomy in ancient Egypt, but the Egyptians continued to direct the entrances of their pyramids to the North Star despite the disappearance of the idea that the king’s life disappeared there as in Egyptian Mythology.

Solar theology transports the king from his tomb or pyramid without going through the calculation phase to the solar boat with the sun god (Ra), and he seems to have rowed the boat west. This paragraph refers to both theologians and the sun.

Pyramid Texts. The bottom line in what we have mentioned about post-mortem life is that the ancient Egyptians believed that “the deceased has three possible fates: either fire destroys him and wipes him completely, cuts off his head, walks upside down; or it can be devoured by wild beasts as in Ancient Egyptian science.

Or wander in an environment that resembles a cellular space between different worlds, similar to the lily fields in Greek mythology; In the latter case, he is allowed to accompany God Ra, both on his day trip and on his night tour. This is the eye of what matchers do to the gods.

What is the oldest Egyptian funerary text?

  • As we mentioned that all those spells mentioned in the Pyramid Texts were written with a very important purpose, which is to protect the remains of the Pharaohs, some of his soul, and then to revive his body again after death.
  • those ancient Egyptian spells depicted with great accuracy all those professional or real ways that the great Egyptian pharaoh could have followed, including how to climb, use steps and ladders, and how to fly, which was the most important of these spells.
  • It is believed that those spells were used or written by the rights to ask for help from the gods and even threaten them if necessary or if they did not respond.
  • But let us emphasize that these Pyramid Texts are completely different from those that appeared and were written during The rule of the Middle Kingdom in ancient Egypt, beginning of the rule of King Mentuhotep I of the Eleventh Dynasty of Egypt and also with it the Modern State.
  • This is because it does not contain mention of any sayings about Satan or goblins.
  • The texts of the pyramids that were written were concerned with other matters or important things that were primarily related to the dead, including:
  • How to succeed in preserving the deceased’s name even after his death.
  • Success in providing him with all the Food in ancient Egypt and Funerary Equipment and water he needs during the periods of his crossing to the afterlife and add with Mummy Ushabti Statue and Ushabti Statue.
  •  In those Pyramid Texts, food and water were mentioned, and on top of them, bread and beer were mentioned thousands of times, i.e. in a very large number, in order to ensure its supply and availability at all times.
