Red Pyramid

What is the red pyramid and why is it called that name?

● In fact, this pyramid was called by that name because of its red color, which resembles a little rust.
● And this, of course, was attributed to the red stones made of limestone, which at the same time is also the third largest Egyptian pyramid, known in the Pharaonic history as a whole after both the pyramid of Khufu and the pyramid of Khafre in the Giza governorate.
● It is also believed that this antiquity is the first Egyptian attempt that has already been crowned with success in building a pyramid in its true sense, i.e. it is a pyramid with smooth sides.
● A number of local residents also refer to this ancient red pyramid by another name, which is the Bat Pyramid.
● In fact, that luxurious ancient red pyramid was not always red in color, but it was initially a pyramid coated with white limestone, but despite that, only a very few of those Pharaonic stones remain at the base of the pyramid. That is, it is located at the corner.
● Also, during the medieval periods, quite a lot of that Egyptian white limestone in Tora had already been taken to make a number of ancient buildings in Cairo, and then that original or red limestone from the pyramid had been revealed beneath it.

To what era is this pyramid built?

● In fact, the reason for building that red pyramid goes back to King Sneferu originally, and this brings us back, of course, to another fact, which is that the cemetery adjacent to that pyramid included only the graves of the officials of that king.
● It can also be confirmed that Sneferu was the one who built it because in the area of this other temple accompanying the pyramid, a block of limestone material had already been found with remnants of texts written in hieroglyphics in that archaeological place, and in it was the name of King Horus or Neb Maat, and this was one of those royal titles that belonged to King Sneferu.

Building and dividing the pyramid from the inside

● In fact, all the corridors and at the same time the distinctive rooms of that red pyramid are located above the base of the pyramid, meaning that the corridors are in the heart of the bricks.
● It is also the first and only Pharaonic pyramid that has been proven not to contain any kind of underground passages.
● The reason behind this may also lie in the increasing and repeated definition of the king that he himself is the sun god Ra.
● But, however, if we talk in terms of purely practical reasons, it can be imagined that there was an order to speed up work on that structural pyramid by dispensing with the presence of all those archaeological components present in the underground.
● This is of course despite the fact that all those rooms in the pyramid appear to be above the surface of the earth, as it had been built on shallow excavations in the pyramid at a depth of approximately 10 meters.

pyramid entrance

● In fact, the entrance to the Red Pyramid is located on the northern wall of the place, which is located at a height of approximately 28 meters and is moved to a distance of approximately 4 meters from the presence of that central axis located from the east.
● In fact, at the foot of the corridor descending from the Red Pyramid, there is a really short column. It was supposed that this archaeological column had its first mission is to prevent the entry of rain water, and thus it is impossible for it to enter the rooms during construction periods.
