Tomb of King Thutmose I
- It is considered one of the first Pharaonic royal tombs to be excavated and built in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor.
- It was discovered in 1899 AD by archaeologist Victor Laurier.
- Tomb of King Thutmose I was designed in the form of a royal Pharaonic Cartridges, starting with a small entrance, then a staircase leading to the corridor, then to a square-shaped room, then a staircase leading to the royal mummy’s burial chamber.
- The coffin of King Thutmose I, made of quartz stone, was transferred to The Egyptian Museum “Museums in Cairo” in Tahrir Square.
- The Mummy of the Pharaonic king was initially transferred to the Tomb of Queen Hatshepsut | KV60, and then the priests transferred it to The Royal Cache of Deir el-Bahri to protect it from Ancient Egyptian Grave Robbers from the residents of Western Thebes as a result of famine, the spread of revolutions, and periods of decline in the civilization of ancient Egypt.
- The first cemetery in which King Tuthmosis the First was buried is cemetery No. 20, and its owners are Hatshepsut and Tuthmosis the First.
- The cemetery is 210.32 m long.
- Tomb of King Thutmose I was discovered by James Burton, and Howard Carter completed its discovery.
- Tomb 20 is located in the eastern valley of the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, and it is said that it was built to serve as a burial place for King Thutmose I.
- The cemetery was then used to bury Queen Hatshepsut, who expanded the cemetery to be next to her father.
- The first discovery of the cemetery by the scholars of the French campaign in 1799 AD, and they wrote down the specifications of the cemetery in their records.
- The tomb was not studied except by Howard Carter in 1903 AD.
- The tomb was designed in a unique way, as it came with a circular corridor design with a distance of 210 in a clockwise direction.
- A sarcophagus of King Tuthmosis I made of yellow quartzite was found in the second burial chamber.
- The sarcophagus is in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
- The sarcophagus of Queen Hatshepsut was also found, made of yellow quartzite, but it was empty and is currently displayed in the Egyptian Museum.
Cemetery 38
- Tomb 38, whose international name is KV38, is also located in the Valley of the Kings in the Eastern Valley.
- Whoever built this tomb is Thutmose III, and he built it so that it would be a memory to honor his grandfather Thutmose I.
- When Tuthmosis III finished building the tomb, he moved the royal casket from Tomb of King Thutmose I KV20 to that tomb.
- A new sarcophagus was specially designed to house the casket of Thutmose the First.
- The coffin was made of yellow quartzite and the lid was found broken.
- The sarcophagus is currently on display at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
