King Yuya

• King Yuya is one of the kings of the Eighteenth Dynasty. Yuya married Tuya, whose father was the god “Min”.
• Toya’s mother was the maid of the royal palace, and she was also the superintendent of the clothes of the royal court.
• Her mother bore many titles, including the queen’s maid and the singer of the god Amun, in addition to the royal mother of the king’s great husband.
• Yuya and Tuya gave birth to the queen called “Tiye”, and with time she became the royal wife of Amenhotep III, one of the kings of the Eighteenth Dynasty.
• Yuya also gave birth to a son called “Anen” and it was also believed that he had another son called “Ai”, the king who came after “Tutankhamun”.

The story

• In addition to the wide fame obtained by the effects that were found in the tomb of King Yuya and Tuyo, who is his wife, there is another set of information that helped in their fame.
• Yuya and Tuta or Tiyo are the parents of Queen Tiye, the wife of Amenhotep III and grandfather of Akhenaten.
• Their tomb was discovered nearly 17 years before the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb.
• The antiquities that were found were very unique, especially the masks, which were found plated with gold.
• It is said that Yuya was the advisor of the pharaoh and was one of the exceptional personalities. Some researchers even said that he was the Prophet Yusuf bin Yaqoub, peace be upon them.

The origin of King Yuya

• King Yuya came from a city called Akhmim. It is said that Yuya was one of the rich people in that region and he also owned property.
• There is no conclusive evidence of the origins of King Yuya, and he also came with features that differ from those of the traditional Egyptians.
• In addition to his strange name compared to the pharaohs who preceded him.
• Therefore, it was believed that King Yuya was of foreign origin, but his wife, Tiyoyo, was of Egyptian origin.
• A group of different names have been found but refer to the same king, including Yuya, Yu, Yaya, Yi Ai, Yue and other titles.
• It is also believed that the origin of King Yuya goes back to a country called “Mtni” because of the presence of a royal agent for chariots who was called by the same name.

Tomb

• The tomb of King Yuya was found in 1906 AD in the Valley of the Kings in the Taiba region.
• It holds tomb number 46 and was found by “Theodore Davis”.
• The mummy of King Yuya was found inside 3 coffins, including the sarcophagus of his wife, Tuyo or Tuya, in addition to another set of statues and pots.
• 3 chairs made of wood, in addition to two beds, and a war wheel were found.
• There is also an ornate chest found in the tomb of Yuya and Tiuya, and on top of it there is a cartouche bearing the name of Pharaoh Amenhotep III.
• The box comes decorated with symbols of life, in addition to the was-was wands, which refer to power, and among the inscriptions there is a grandfather column, which means eternity or permanence.
• The number of artifacts that have been found is approximately 214 pieces.
• Masks made of gilded cartonnage were found, in addition to containing a group of precious stones.

papyrus yoya

• Among the relics that were found in the tomb of King Yuya and Tuyo is Buraydah Yuya, which is considered the longest hieroglyphic papyrus, with a length of 20 meters.
• The papyrus was found completely and was also in good condition, both in terms of its consistency and its colours.
• The papyrus came containing a set of pictures and details, in addition to a group of incantations dating back to the Book of the Dead, and they number 40 incantations.
• There is also another set of funeral quotes from the Book of the Dead as well.
