  • King Mentuhotep I is an Egyptian Pharaonic king who ruled the country for a period of time in the city of Thebes, “Luxor,” during the reign of the Eleventh Dynasty.
  • His period of rule was one of the first transitional periods that the country was going through, which occurred in the period between (2072 – 2064 BC).
  • King Mentuhotep I was considered both the spiritual father and the true founder of the Eleventh Dynasty of Egypt.
  • Not only that, but he had given himself an important title that belonged to himself only, which was the title of ruler of Upper Egypt, as in the Geography of ancient Egypt, and after that he had taken another title for himself, which was the title of king of the country and king of all of Egypt.

What did King Mentuhotep I do?

  • In fact, King Mentuhotep I was married to the main queen, Queen Neferu I. Perhaps some Egyptologists believed that she was Queen Neferu I.
  • At the same time, he was the father of a number of kings who came after him, including King Intef I and King Intef II, according to the list of pharaoh kings present in the Karnak Temple.
  • His father was the old king Intef the Great, and he also had another brother, Kho (Intef son of Echo). Where his name had been found written in the list of kings, but under the item bearing the number 12.
