First Intermediate Period

The first stage of transition in ancient Egyptian civilization included the rule of the kings of the Seventh Dynasties of Egypt and Eighth, the Ninth Dynasty of Egypt, and the Tenth Dynasty of Egypt.

It was the first period that followed the collapse of the Old Kingdom. Its first stages witnessed the rule of chaos, the emergence of illegitimate and weak dynasties, the outbreak of Revolutions in Ancient Egypt, social unrest, and foreign invasions.

Then the rulers of the city of Nekhen “Herakonpolis” in southern Egypt partially seized power, and things quickly collapsed after them and internal war broke out during the era of the Tenth Dynasty.

In the era of the first decline, Thebes took control, and the worship of the God Osiris and God AmunGod Ra, the most famous ancient Egyptian deities, spread in Egyptian Temples, and the influence of the High Priest of Amun appeared over all the regions of Upper and Lower Egypt, according to the Geography of ancient Egypt.

The Seventh and Eighth Dynasties:

from the city of Memphis in northern Egypt.

It was founded by King Menkare, and it witnessed the First Intermediate Period, the weakness of the Pharaoh kings and princes, and none of them cared about strengthening the internal economy and defending the western, eastern, and southern borders.

Ninth Dynasty:

It was founded by King Meryibre Khety in the city of Nakhon, south of Fayoum, which is the capital of the twentieth province of Upper Egypt.

The Tenth Dynasty continued there. Egypt was not united at that time. So there is an overlap between the kings of the two dynasties and the local dynasties.

The Tenth Dynasty of Egypt

It was founded by King Meryhathor, after which Egypt began to enter a stage of weakness and then prepare to enter the stage of the strong kings of the Eleventh Dynasty to build Egypt’s economy again.
