The date of construction of the Cairo Metro in Egypt:

The idea arose from engineer Sayed Abdel Wahid, an employee at the Railway Authority in Egypt, when he sent a letter to King Fouad I proposing to set up a metro in Cairo to reduce congestion, but his project was rejected, then President Gamal Abdel Nasser adopted the idea and he entrusted the project to French engineers to build the first metro line in Africa and the Middle East.

President Mohamed Anwar Sadat ratified the decision to establish a full metro management committee in Egypt in 1970, and then President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak began his activities in 1983, based on Law No. 113 of the year 1983.
