Pyramid of Djedkare Isesi Facts

The builder of this pyramid was Djedkare in the period that was from the late twenty-fifth century BC, and it was specifically in the late or mid-periods in the twenty-fourth century BC..

This ancient pyramid is also referred to as the Shawaf Pyramid, which was built by a number of local residents..

It is the first ancient pyramid that was built before in the south of the Saqqara area..

In fact, the Djedkare pyramid complex includes a main pyramid and a funerary Mortuary Temples. The most famous funerary temple was located on the eastern side of the main pyramid..

There was also the Valley Temple, the temple buried under the modern Saqqara pyramid; there was also a bridge that had only been partially excavated; and at the same time a pyramid dedicated to worship..

The main pyramid of Djedkare that was built was a core. This core consisted of approximately six steps, all of which were built of limestone, the most famous of the Ancient Egyptian Metallurgy, roughly cut and then connected together using clay tiles that were then covered with soft white limestone.

In fact, let us emphasize that the casing of that pyramid was looted, and then all those first three steps in that casing were lost from the heart, and he succeeded in leaving behind this pyramid with a length of approximately 24 meters, which is equivalent to (79 feet; 46 cubic meters), indicating the development of Sculpture in Ancient Egypt.

Funerary temple

In fact, there is that funerary temple, the most famous of the Egyptian Temples, which is at the same time affiliated with the pyramid, next to the eastern face of that ancient pyramid..

The entrance hall of this ancient temple is surrounded by approximately two large buildings..

To the west of that southern pylon in the pyramid of Djedkare, a large building had been discovered that contained a number of narrow and long rooms at the same time..

Also, the carving was done in order to preserve the plan that had been drawn on it before this building by using a set of foundation blocks..

However, its structural structure was not successfully preserved to a good shape, and its floor was completely lost, perhaps by the action of stone thieves..

There are also no contemporaries of the building that were the reason for building other pyramid complexes during the Old Kingdom period..

There is also no type of facilities that were with it on the northern side of it. Thus, the structural function for which it was built is unknown until now.

It is believed that this funerary temple adjacent to this pyramid was destroyed during the Second Intermediate Period (First Intermediate Period) that Egypt went through and the beginning of the rule of the Pharaohs of the Seventh Dynasties of Egypt and Eighth.

It was then used as a specialized site only for burying the Mummy of the pharaohs during the reign of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt, beginning with King Ahmose I in the era of The New Kingdom of Egypt..

Also in the southeastern corner of the pyramid, we find that there is a small cult pyramid located in a fence. It also has an infrastructure that appeared in the shape of the letter.
