Al-Khotaba Mosque

The history of the construction of the most important historical monuments and shrines of the locality of Abou Ali, Desouk, Kafr Al-Sheikh Egypt, information about the Al-Khotaba Mosque of the Mamluk period and the interior plan of the archaeological mosque.

It is located in the town of Abou Ali in the center of Desouk. This mosque dates back to the Mamluk period and was built in the 8th century AH during the reign of Sultan Barquq. This is based on the marble painting installed on the main entrance of the mosque, which includes a decree dated 802 A.H.  at the beginning of the sultan era (Faraj ibn Barquq). The registered decree is of particular historical importance, as it first gives us an idea of how state decrees are declared and the mosque is chosen as a place of declaration as a meeting place for people to pray. Second, it states that the sultan invalidated the crescent guarantee.

  • In addition to the decree, there are other dated writings showing the additions and renovations made to the mosque at different times.
  • In Ottoman times, Prince Khalil Agha created an exquisite and meticulously crafted minaret for the mosque.
  • The mosque’s proximity to the Nile resembles a supervisor, and it seems illuminated at night as if it were a guide lighthouse. He wrote on the lighthouse: “This honorable man was commemorated by elders and dignitaries Khalil Agha, and Prince Soleiman directly forgives them and dwells them in spacious paradises.” In the spring of 1136 Ah in 1723.
  • At the south door of the mosque is a marble plaque with a writing indicating the renovations made by Ibrahim Pasha.

Nasr Eddin Mosque – Mosques in Kafr El Sheikh

The history of the establishment of the most important historical archaeological mosques in the city of Fouah, Kafr Al-Sheikh in Egypt and the interior design of the archaeological mosque, the school attached to it and more.

The city of Fouah, originally a university school established in the 8th century AH, has the prince (Hassan ibn Nasrallah), an Egyptian from Fuah himself, who was born there in 766 Ah. He then learned at the Sultan Hassan School in Cairo, then held the position of Hesba during the reign of Sultan Al-Zaher Barqouq, then head of the army. Under Faraj ibn Barqouq, he was a minister.

In 822 Ah, it was the position of “Stadium” at the time of the Pro Sultan. But he was dismissed from office at the time of Sultan Ashraf (Birsbay) and his property was confiscated, and he begged God, in the days of this trial, to build for God a mosque in his country (Fuah) if God survived, and in 842 Ah was returned to the position of (Stadium) under Sultan Zaher Jaqmak, he fulfilled his vow and established his university school.

This school consists of a rectangle with four rows of columns, each containing three marble columns bearing pointed arches, dividing the mosque into five corridors. At the height of the roof of the mosque, windows, some in the form of an asterisk and the other in some form, were opened in the walls of the mosque.

Next to the central mihrab is a pulpit of collected fillings and wood, and the name of the creator of the mosque and the date of construction are written on the door of the pulpit.
