Aswan High Dam

The dam was built from 1960 to 1971 AD and it is located about 17 km south of Aswan, 3,600 meters long and 990 meters wide at the base, at the top 40 meters and 111 meters high.

You will see the Nile Diversion Canal on the east bank, consisting of an open front channel and a rear channel connecting them to the number of 6 tunnels dug into the branching rock of each tunnel two branches and connecting each branch of water to the power generation turbines.

The cost of building the high dam at the time = 415 million Egyptian pounds.

Aswan Reservoir:

The reservoir was built in 1902 to hold 1 billion cubic meters of water at the time of flooding and reuse it during the drought season, then it was  expanded in 1934 to hold 5.2 billion cubic meters of water.

The Aswan Reservoir is 2,141 meters long and 9 meters wide and has 1,802 water drainage control slots, in addition to the passage of ships on the west side as well as a power plant to power the Kima factory power plant.
