The date of foundation of the Om Kolthum Museum in Cairo

Work on the transformation and construction of the museum began at the end of April 1998, under the supervision of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.

The kindergarten area was chosen to build the museum, where it was decided that one of the buildings attached to the Manasterli Palace would occupy an area of 250 meters.

This area is known as    “El-Manial” which means Nilometer  because  of the existence of the famous  Nileometer, and the  Mansterli Palace, and the museum attached to one of its buildings, is an important historical monument, and an important architectural masterpiece, an area of 1000 square meters built by its owner (Hassan Fouad Pasha  El-Manasterli) in 1851, who served as governor of Cairo, and minister of the interior.

The work of the museum began with the collection of the collection of Mrs. Om Kolthum on May 8, 1998, under the supervision of the Cultural Development Fund, representing the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.

Description of Om Kolthum Museum in Cairo

The museum has several different rooms, with the main hall containing eight exhibition platforms, including: personal collections, decorations, as well as five murals of rare images of the great singer.

In addition to a collection of musical notes and poems handwritten by several poets for the   most important songs of Mrs.  Om Kolthum, as well as letters exchanged between our singer and politicians before the July Revolution of 1952.

The museum also houses a cinema room, which presents documentaries about Mrs. Om Kolthum and her artistic history, and ends with a 26-minute funeral, translated into English and French.

In addition, the museum includes the library’s visual audition room, which features all the songs, concerts, travels, and films of Mrs.  Om Kolthum, as well as a complete recording of what the Arab press wrote about her from 1924 to 2000.

The Panorama Hall, which presents a collection of photographs of Om Kolthum’s age stadiums during her lifetime, photos of her films and a collection of photographs that bring her together with several artists and    singers.
