Facts about the temple of Al-Toud:

  2. The temple was built during the Fourth Dynasty.

Who is the God Monthu?  

  • Monthu is one of the great deities in the most important religious beliefs of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs like war and symbolizes it in the form of the head of the falcon, where he was the god of a great city in ancient Egyptian civilization.

The temple was built during the Middle Kingdom during the reign of King Monthuhotep II and then King Sesostris I “Egyptian Pharaohs kings.

  • It was discovered in 1936 after excavations and excavations near the temple of Al-Toud. A collection of pieces of stone metal antiques (lapis lazuli) as well as silver coins dating from the years 1900-1700 to prehistoric times.
  • 4 copper boxes containing the name of King Amenemhat II have been discovered.
  • Gold treasures weighing 7 kg and silver treasures weighing 9 kg were found.
  • The treasures of the Temple of Al-Toud are on display at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and the Louvre Museum in France.
