• Dynasty 21 was the first dynasty to rule Egypt during the Third Intermediate Period, which was known as the period of weakness.
• The third transition period was the beginning of the rule of that family, which was not recognized as rulers of Egypt in the beginning.
• The period of the rule of that family is described as a theocracy because the priests of Amun are the actual rulers of the country, because in that period they were the highest authority in the country.
• The first pharaoh of that family, Smendes, ruled Egypt from 1077 until 1051 BC.
