Lahun Pyramid

Who built that pyramid and where did he build it?

● The pyramid of Lahun is one of those pyramids that were built in the past in Egypt, along with the construction of that pyramid called Djoser, the amphitheater, and each of the three pyramids of Dahshur, along with the three pyramids of Giza, in addition to the pyramid of Meidum and others.
● It was built by the ancient Pharaonic King Senusret II, and he was the king number four of the kings of the Twelfth Dynasty in the Pharaonic times, specifically the one that belonged to the ancient Pharaonic middle state.
● It was this king who almost ruled Egypt for a period of 19 years, from 1897 BC to 1878 BC.
● And then he succeeded his father, King Amenemhat II, who was already his partner in assuming power during his last years.

Achievements that are designed in the pyramid of Lahun

● That ancient Egyptian pharaoh had given the Fayoum region a great deal of attention, as he established a large number of many projects related to both irrigation and agriculture.
● Then that king made a cut in the irrigation canals in all the surrounding agricultural lands in the past.
● And he built channels for drainage, and that was because he was very interested in battling agricultural operations, and this led to a very large increase in the agricultural area, and this was of course all during his reign.
● The most important thing is that this King Senusret II had built his own pyramid in the village of Lahun, and it was made of mud bricks, and that happened on a very high hill, its height was approximately 12 meters.
● And it was located directly on the outskirts of that village called Al-Lahun, and therefore it was attributed to that act, and that pyramid was indeed covered with a number of limestone.

Dimensions of the pyramid of Lahun and its design from the inside

● In the past, the length of the rib at the base of the pyramid of Lahun was about 106 meters, and its height was approximately 48 meters.
● It was located at its entrance, especially on the southern side of the pyramid, of course, contrary to what was followed in the past in most of those previous Pharaonic pyramids.
● And that was where those pyramids often had their entrance from the northern side of the corners of the pyramid, and that entrance led to a number or a group of somewhat complex passages that then wrapped directly around the burial chamber.
● He had found the sarcophagus of King Mashid Al-Haram in that small room, and it was a sarcophagus made of pink granite stone.
● And it was found near him the presence of an instrument of almost pure gold, which was actually placed on top of that Pharaonic royal crown.
● And that crown was almost close to that Pharaonic pyramid, and there is also a funerary temple with it, but it was located in that eastern side of it. It follows as usual when building such huge pyramids takes place.
● Also, the group of that pyramid or temple was surrounded by a wall, and this is also the usual occurrence, and on the northern side of that wall surrounding the Lahun pyramid, there was another pyramid, but a small one.
● And it was then agreed to name this pyramid as the pyramid of worship, and there were so far a number of remnants and ruins from that pyramid.
● There is also that cemetery near the pyramid of Lahun, and there were approximately 9 mastabas in it. It was considered the tombs of all members of that royal family, among which was the tomb of Sate Hathorat Ayunt, who is the queen, the daughter of the great King Senusret II
● A large collection or cache was left in that cemetery, which was made up of a number of necklaces and crowns, and it also contained wooden boxes that were inlaid with ivory.
