History of the construction of Dush Temple

● The ancient temple of Dosh dates back to the rule of the Roman era, during the reign of all the dark emperors such as Domtian, Hadrian, and Trajan.
● And the temple is actually located inside the remains of an ancient archaeological fort consisting of a number of approximately four floors, and that fort overlooks the road path and all those commercial caravans, which are the most famous in the oases region in the past, such as the “Darb Al-Arbaeen” area.
● That area that connects until now between the Nile Valley in Assiut Governorate to the Darfur region in the city of Sudan.

How was that ancient temple built?
In fact, that temple was built of sandstone material, while that fort, along with the wall and those additional buildings around it or attached to it, were built of mud bricks.

● The temple contains within it most of those landscapes of ancient Egyptian deities.
● At that time, the emperor presented a number of different offerings and presented them to the lords of the temple, and this was a kind of approach to those ancient Egyptian deities.
● And it was also happening to please all the priests and a number of the people in the oases and inside all of Egypt, and also this was done in order to bring these ancient deities closer to their own deities that exist in their countries.
● In addition, the archaeological temple of “Dush” is similar in its planning and architecture to the temples that were already being built inside ancient Egypt at that time.
● This is in terms of the presence of a number of “gates” and then a number of “halls”, which included a specific group of columns located on 3 rows that led at the end to a room or area of ​​the “Holy of Holies”.
● And at the end of those archaeological halls there was a stairway intended only for ascending to that floor at the top, and on that archaeological main gate of the temple there was that founding text that was placed in the era of the ancient Emperor “Trajan”.
The text mentions the name of that ancient military ruler of that archaeological area at its time, i.e. the time of building and construction.
● This in itself is an indication of the Romans’ control over that region in the past, as that region in the oases consisted of a number of garrisons belonging to the rule of the Roman Empire.

The archaeological areas attached to the Dush Temple

● One of the other important areas is already located near that archaeological area, which is known as the “Ain Munawer” area.
● Since there is an archaeological temple in it that was dedicated only to the idol “Amon Ra” and the god his trinity.
● The importance of this area also stems from several things due to the presence of those “lights”, which is an important element and the primary source for obtaining water and then irrigation for agriculture in that place in the past.
● This place was of the greatest importance to the Romans, and it was one of their most prominent ancient historical activities in the desert and then the oases.
● He also mentions that until now a permanent mission has been working in that archaeological area, and the “dush treasure” had recently been discovered in it, and then it was moved carefully and carefully into the Egyptian Museum.
● It consisted of the presence of a wreath and a number of golden bracelets, as it was found at that time by the workers of that archaeological mission inside one of the rooms in the fort placed in a pottery vessel.
